1004 - Resolution - Petition Seeking Re-Organization of the Town of Port OrchardR
RESOLUTION NO, //0 _J
WHEREAS, a petition has been filed with the Town Council of the
Town of Port Orchard, seeking re -organization of the Town as a City
of the Third Class, signed by electors of the Town of Port Orchard
in number equal to one -fifth of the votes cast at the last municipal
election; and
WHEREAS, the said petition has been reviewed and has been found
to meet the requirements of law; and
TEAS, the Town Council has set a special election, on Tuesday„
September 19, 1961, pursuant to law, in which the electors of the Town
of Port Orchard were given the opportunity to vote for or against the
advancement to a city of the Third Class; and
WHEREAS, at the said election 231 electors voted for advancement
to a city of the Third Class whereas 37 electors voted against advance -
meat to a city of the Third Class;
Now, PMEFORE, be it and it hereby is RESOLVED by the Town Council
of the Town of Port Orchard that the inhabitants of the Town of Port
Orchard have decided upon the advancement of Port Orchard from a town
of the Fourth Class to a city of the Third Class, and the Town Clerk
is hereby directed to certify this Resolution to the Clem of the Board
of Kitsap County Commissioners,
