021-22 - Teamsters Local No. 589-Public Works - Contract Amendment MOU 6-4-2022MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD AND THE TEAMSTERS LOCAL NO. 589 (REPRESENTING THE PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES) The City of Port Orchard ("City") and Teamsters No. 589 Representing the Public Works Employees (Union) enter into this Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") regarding an additional 8 hour holiday to recognize Juneteenth. WHEREAS, the Port Orchard City Council authorized Ordinance Number 018-22 at their meeting on May 24, 2022; and WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 018-22 authorized the Mayor to recognize Juneteenth as a legal holiday in the City's personnel policies; and WHEREAS, Ordinance number 018-22 authorized the Mayor to sign an MOU with the Union to include Juneteenth as a recognized holiday in the Collective Bargaining Agreement; and WHEREAS, the Union and the City desire to provide this additional holiday to the members of the Union; NOW, THEREFORE, the City and the Union agree as follows: 1. On the effective date of this MOU, Article 11.1 of the collective bargaining agreement ("CBA") between the City and the Union representing Public Works Employees shall be modified as follows: All employees shall be entitled to observe the following holidays with pay: the first day of January, commonly called New Years Day; the third Monday of January, being celebrated as the birthday of Martin Luther King; the third Monday of February, being celebrated as the anniversary of the birth of George Washington; the last Monday of May, commonly known as Memorial Day; the nineteenth date of June, commonly known as Juneteenth: the fourth day of July, being the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence; the first Monday in September, to be known as Labor Day, the eleventh day of November, to be known as Veteran's Day; the fourth Thursday of November, to be known as Thanksgiving Day; the day after Thanksgiving; the twenty fifth day of December, commonly called Christmas Day. Part-time employees will receive a pro-rata portion of pay for holidays provided for in this section. 2. This MOU is effective when signed by both parties. No modification to this MOU is valid unless in writing and signed by the parties.
