3. Overall Event or Project Detail (please attach additional paperwork if needed)
Title Event marketing for Seagull Calling Festival, and Kitsap County Cornhole Classic
Amount of funding requested $ 2000 1 Total Overall Event or Project Amount $ 5500
A. Describe your overall event or project.
The Chamber of Commerce is requesting funds for hosting and promoting two events in Port Orchard in 2022. The
Chamber has held this event for 31 years, but in 2020 and 2021 we were unable to successfully hold the event. We
would like to make 2023 the 32nd anniversary of the Annual Seagull Calling Festival in Port Orchard. This festival draws
people and families from all over the Pacific Northwest to this established event.
In 2019 the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce held the first ever Kitsap County Cornhole Classic. We were unable to
hold the contest in 2020, but in 2021 we revived the tournament, and we drew a couple of hundred folks to
downtown Port Orchard. We had inquiries from all over Western Washington with players coming in from all over.
This is an event that will eventually be self-sufficient, but until then we need assistance promoting the event outside
the area. The Kitsap County Cornhole Classic, was inspired by Hoopfest in Spokane. Our goal for the event is to grow
into a huge multi -day event that draws players in for all over the Northwest.
This request is for operational and promotion expense in conjunction with the two events.
B. Describe how your overall event or project will provide a community economic benefit.
These two events bring people in from out of town. Visitors for these events shop in our local stores and eat at our local
restaurants. The Kitsap County Cornhole Classic is actually a multi month process which supports many different local businesses,
who host preliminary tournaments.
4.
Please describe how you will measure the impact your overall event or project will have on tourism or projected increase in
tourism. Please be specific and provide examples.
Combined with other activities that take place in downtown Port Orchard, the Seagull Calling Contest provides more things to do and
more reasons to come. The boardwalk is lined with spectators, and we usually have about 25 contestants that participate in the
calling.
In 2021 we had over 80 teams participate in the Cornhole Classic around Port Orchard and 32 teams played in the one -day finals. Each
hosting business and their community benefited by the events held near them.
5. Overall Event or Project Budget Summary
A. Describe, and be specific, on what you would spend the requested lodging tax funds on.
Money received from LTAC would be used to promote the events around the sound. We do a great job promoting our events locally
via Social Media, but we don't have the funds to promote beyond. We have been building our infrastructure (operational supplies)
over the past few years and very little money would be used for operations.
B. Income Other Than Lodging Tax (from sponsorships, grants, donation and admission fees)
If you anticipate receiving partial funding for this activity from another source, please list the source(s) approximate
amount, and status of funding. Indicate the entry or admission fee if one will be charged.

Can you operate this project with reduced funding? ❑x Yes ❑ No If yes, explain below:
All LTAC funds used are as a reimbursement. If the funds are not available, we would not be able to do the marketing. The events may not be as
successful. They will more than likely continue with or without supporting funds.
D. Other Financial Information
Does your overall event or project have provisions (or plans) for becoming less dependent on Lodging Tax funding?
(Meaning does the overall event or project have the ability to increase revenue by charging admission, increasing fees,
etc.)
Operationally, these events are becoming more independent each year. The events are not big money makers and we use a majority
of our funding for promotions.
Our goal for the Cornhole tournament is to be 100% self-sustaining in the next couple of years. Cornhole is growing in popularity
around the world Q
If not, what are your challenges of generating new revenues:
