Describe your overall event or project. Total Overall Event or Project Amount $ 35.800 Each year the Chamber of Commerce receives inquiries via email, our website, and telephone requests from potential visitors and new residents. The Chamber of Commerce operates as the local visitor information center and caters to walk in visitors and calls all year. 2021 has been an extension of 2020 and we continue to see a limited number of visitors coming to Port Orchard. We continue to provide the services for those seeking information about the area. The Chamber regularly mails information in response to these inquires and spends hours on the phone discussing the features and attractions of the South Kitsap/Port Orchard Community. The Chamber of Commerce will continue to fulfill these requests for information as well as greet and educate visitors about the region. As a result of the continuous "Stay Home" recommendations the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce has been actively marketing South Kitsap to a more regional base. We have created and are running with a "Rediscover Kitsap" campaign in conjunction with all the other Chambers in the County. In the past we have submitted an additional proposal for Explore Port Orchard, This year we are including the Explore Port Orchard LTAC request as part of the overall Chamber request. The Chamber publishes Exploreportorchard.com which is the website promoting Port Orchard, it's activities, events and attractions. Our request this year includes our funding request for the Explore Port Orchard website, association memberships and our ad in the Destination Kitsap. B. Describe how your overall event or project will provide a community economic benefit. While 2021 has been an extension of 2020, we have seen a return some visitors. We will continue to support the local businesses through the promotion of their events, and we are poised to be a great destination for visitors wanting to get a way. Most of the information requests we receive are from either the telephone or via email. Our online presence is by far our most important asset. In addition to the telephone and email requests, we receive walk-in visitors requesting information on local attractions and events. Each of these visitors or information requests want information on attractions, lodging, and eating establishments in the area. Please describe how you will measure the impact your overall event or project will have on tourism or projected increase in tourism. Please be specific and provide examples. We can measure the website hits and visitor interactions, but it is difficult to measure the specific economic impact these visitors provide to our local businesses. 4. Overall Event or Project Budget Summary A. Describe, and be specific, on what you would spend the requested lodging tax funds on. Lodging tax funds will be used to offset operational costs of maintaining the Chamber. These costs also include a small portion staff time for visitor interaction, website maintenance and brochure management. The lodging tax request for Visitor Center operations represents less than 8% of our total operating budget. It also included maintenance costs for the Explore Port Orchard website and marketing.
