A. Describe your overall event or project.*
Sidney Museum and Arts Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 1971 to preserve local history and promote fine arts and local and regional
artists. The Sidney Museum and Arts Association maintains two buildings – the Sidney Art Gallery and Museum at 202 Sidney Avenue Building (original
Masonic Hall in Port Orchard and on the national and state historic registers) and the Log Cabin Museum at 416 Sidney Avenue. The 202 Sidney Avenue
Building houses the Sidney Art Gallery on the first floor where there are changing art shows and the Sidney Museum on the second. The Log Cabin Museum
is a small museum housed in a log cabin built in 1914. Both museums feature changing exhibits showing pioneer life in Port Orchard and Kitsap County. We
maintain a collection of historic photographs and other material.
The Sidney Museum and Arts Association maintains a website and Facebook page, an email list of interested people, and advertises in various regional and
out of state publications such as The Country Register, Art Access, Discover Kitsap, Experience Washington (print and web), North American Reciprocal
Museums membership which includes website and Facebook, Destination Washington (web), Sound Publishing, AAA guidebook, Trip Advisor, and other web
based tour guides. We maintain a series of signs on Highway 16.
Our marketing campaign is designed to bring people interested in art and history to Port Orchard to see the two museums and the art gallery, attend the art
shows, or enter open art shows. We also maintain a kiosk of tourism related material featuring local sites of interest. We host a series of small events and
participate in all downtown events. We provide information about our art shows, museums, and events to the Chamber, Visit Kitsap, Port Orchard Bay Street
Association, hotels and B&Bs.
B. Describe how your overall event or project will provide a community economic benefit.*
Our marketing campaigns are designed to draw visitors from out of Port Orchard to the Sidney Art Gallery & Museum and to the Log Cabin Museum, which
are cultural attractions for Port Orchard. The Sidney Art Gallery and Museum is listed on the national and state historic registers. We encourage visitors to
walk through downtown Port Orchard after visiting the museums. Our volunteers will give recommendations on places to see and places to eat. Out of town
visitors benefit the local economy. They eat in the restaurants, stay at the marinas, hotels and B&Bs, shop in the stores, go to a play or movie, see a local
attraction. Local businesses employ local people. Bringing tourists and other visitors to downtown helps ensure that the community economy is healthy,
and encourages local citizens to participate in downtown activities, which increases the cohesiveness of the community.
C. Please describe how you will measure the impact your overall event or project will have on tourism or projected increase in
tourism. Please be specific and provide examples.*
This is primarily print ads or internet connected advertising. Art Access, which is published 6 times a year, is distributed from Vancouver (Canada) to
Vancouver (Washington) and into Oregon at hotels, information centers, tourist stops. We had a couple from out of state stop recently who had picked up a
copy as they were traveling and using it to visit art galleries in Washington. The Country Register is distributed in Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and British
Columbia. The AAA Guide is distributed nationwide to AAA members. Discover Kitsap is a local publication distributed on the ferries as well as locally in the
print publications. Destination WA has both print and web based advertising. Our email database currently has over 1,000 names of people interested in art
or history. We use statistics provided by the publishers and Google analytics to estimate what the overall possible reach of our advertising could be. We track
usage of the website, Facebook pages and other social media to indicate the reach of our advertising. We maintain a visitor log for visitors to sign in. Our
volunteers count everyone coming into the buildings and ask where they heard about us. So the overall potential numbers are then revised with the number
of actual visitors.
Please upload any additional paperwork, if needed.

No

Reduced funding will mean reduced opportunities for marketing.
C. Other Financial Information

overall event or project have the ability to increase revenue by charging admission, increasing fees, etc.)*
No
If not, what are your challenges of generating new revenues:
Since this is advertising designed to encourage people to come to Port Orchard, there are no fees or admission to charge. There is no other grant money that
we are aware of that would cover this advertising. We use our operating money for any gaps, which is made up of membership fees, and donations.
