Council Finance Committee
A meeting of the Council Finance Committee was held at City Hall September 27, 2016 at 7:30
am.
PRESENT: Chairman John Clauson, members Bek Ashby and Shawn Cucciardi, Mayor Rob
Putaansuu, Mark Dorsey, P.E., and Treasurer Allan Martin.
Chairman Clauson called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m.
Finance Report
Treasurer Martin reported the overall sales tax revenue remained strong with collections up
7.74% over year-to-date projections. The amount overall is $198,384 greater than expectations
for the year. Overall 2016 collections total $3371820. Real estate excise tax collection totals
$411,931 surpassing the year-to-date budget collection amount of $400,000.
The committee reviewed General Ledger Cash and Investments for all funds. Grand total of all
funds ending fund balance $18,888,794.
Mr. Martin that preliminary property tax levy information had been received from the Kitsap
County Assessor’s office. The Revenue Sources Hearing, leading to the levy certification prior
to the end of November, will be held on October 11.
Public Works
Public Works Director Mark Dorsey gave a status report on progress with Berger Abam,
Tremont Funding, and the Decant Facility construction.
