BETWEEN
THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD
AND THE PORT ORCHARD POLICE GUILD
(REPRESENTING SERGEANTS)
The City of Port Orchard ("City") and the Port Orchard Police Guild representing Sergeants
(Guild) enter into this Letter of Agreement ("LOA") regarding wellness services.
WHEREAS, historically, law enforcement personnel are at higher risk of disease related
to the stresses of the profession; and
WHEREAS, the Port Orchard Police Department has partnered with the Gig Harbor Police
Department to provide a wellness examination to provide useful information and data about
employee wellness for the benefit of the individual employees herein referred to as "Lifescan" for
law enforcement personnel; and
WHEREAS, the Port Orchard Police Department and Gig Harbor Police Department have
obtained a grant to cover the costs of the Lifescan examination; and
WHEREAS, the Guild and the City desire to make Lifescan available to members of the
Guild; and
WHEREAS, the Guild and the City desire to take steps to remove perceived and actual
barriers that may reduce the chances of employees participating in the Lifescan examination;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City and the Guild agree as follows:
1. The Port Orchard Police Department, the City of Port Orchard, and the Guild will not
receive the results of any employee's Lifescan examination.
2. Participation in the Lifescan examination is not directed by the City, and participation
is voluntary.
3. Employees participating in the Lifescan examination scheduled in January 2025 in Gig
Harbor will be compensated for four (4) hours of pay, at their regular straight -time rate
of pay. These four (4) hours will not be included for purposes of determining overtime
for the work week or pay cycle.
4. No additional compensation is payable to the employee as part of their participation in
the Lifescan examination.

5. This MOU is effective when signed by both parties. No modification to this MOU is
valid unless in writing and signed by the parties.
