HomeMy WebLinkAbout651 - Ordinance - Purchase of a Fire Truck Associated Fire EquipmentORDINANCE NO. 6i AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CALLING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE TOWN OF PORT ORCHARD FOR NOVEMBER 4,1958, TO AUTHORIZE THE TOWN COUNCIL TO LEVY A TAX,ESTIMATED TED AT 10 MILLS, FOR THE YEAR 1959, SUFFICIENT TO RAISE AN AMOUNT OF $23,000.00 , FOR THE PURCHASE OF A FIRE TRUCK ASSOCIATED FIRE EQUIPMENT, AND FOR SUCH OTHER MUNICI- PAL PURPOSES AS THE TWON COUNCIL SHALL DEEM APPROPRIATE. WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of Port Orchard finds that it is necessary to levy a tax estimated at 10 mills for the year of 1959, in addi- tional to the regular 15 mills allowed by law, sufficient to raise an amount of $23,000.00 for the purchase of a fire truck and associated fire fighting equipment, and for such other municipal purposes as the Town Council shall deem appropriate; NOW, THEREFORE, be it, and it hereby is, ordained by the Council of the Town of Port Orchard as follows: Section 1. That there be submitted to the qualified electors of the Town of Port Orchard, at a special election to be held November 4, 1958, in all precincts within said Town, the proposition whether the Town Council shall be authorized to Ivey a tax for the year 1959, in addition to the regu- lar 15 mills allowed by law, in an amount sufficient to raise the sum of $23,000.00 for the purchase of a fire truck and associated fire fighting equip- ment, and for such other municipal purposes as the Town Council shall deem appropriate; that the necessary additional millage is estimated to be 10 mills. Section 2. That the Clerk of the Town of Port Orchard be and ire hereby is authorized to certify to the Kitsap County Election Board the pro- positions to be voted on y the electors at said election: PROPOSITION Shall the Town Council of the Town of Port Orchard be authorized to levy an additional tax, estimated at 10 mills, sufficient to raise $23,000.3.^ for the purchase of a fire truck and associated fire equipment and for such other municipal purposes as the Town Council shall deem appropriate.1 YES. NO. Section 3. That the said Town Council hereby requests the Kitsap County Election Board to give the Notice of Special Election and to supervise the details thereof; that this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect af- ter its passage and publication according to law.
