RE: Command and Control During Unusual Occurrences
It is agreed to by the undersigned law enforcement agencies that, when assistance is
requested by a participating member of this Memorandum of Understanding of another
participating agency during an unusual occurrence, command and control of all
personnel regardless of agency affiliation will rest with the agency command staff
initiating the request.
Command and control over all participating personnel will be maintained until such time
as a contributing agency recalls its personnel from assisting with the unusual occurrence.
The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to give a requesting agency the
ability to maintain continuity in the area of command and control. Nothing in this
Memorandum of Understanding directs that any agency will respond to a call for
assistance but, after evaluating the request and if responding to the call for assistance,
it is understood that responding agency personnel Nvill fall under the control of the
requesting agency until they are relieved by the requesting agency or recalled by the
assisting parent agency.
