A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
SUPPORTING SOUTH KITSAP SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 402 GENERAL
OBLIGATIONS BOND BALLOT MEASURE
WHEREAS, the South Kitsap School District will place a school construction Bond before
voters as a ballot issue on April 26, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the general obligation bonds will be in the principal amount of
$126,992,867; and
WHEREAS, the proposed bond will provide funding to 1) construct a new high school
including facilities for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), and other
comprehensive high school programming and 2) to make technology and safety upgrades a the
current high school; and
WHEREAS, all of the above direct and indirect results of the South Kitsap School District
Bonds will enhance educational opportunities for the children of South Kitsap County residents,
and thereby improving the quality of life in South Kitsap; and
WHEREAS, each generation should invest in its own and its children's future by building
on physical and social improvements made by prior generations, now, therefore;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: The City of Port Orchard supports South Kitsap School District No. 402
Ballot Measure Proposition No. 1 and urges City of Port Orchard and Kitsap
County voters to approve the ballot measure on April 26, 2016.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, SIGNED by the Mayor and attested by
the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 22nd day of March 2016.
