RESOLUTION NO. 007-26
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING
THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A COMMERCIAL ELECTRIC FACILITIES CONTRACT
WITH PUGET SOUND ENERGY FOR THE MELCHER PUMP STATION
REHABILITATION PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City identified the need for the Melcher Pump Station Rehabilitation
Project, to make necessary improvements to this key piece of infrastructure (the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, the City applied for and received a loan through the Washington State Public
Works Board (PWB) Traditional Fund Loan Program to fund the Project; and
WHEREAS, construction on the Melcher Pump Station Rehabilitation Project began in
2025; and
WHEREAS, the Project requires electrical improvements coordinated with Puget Sound
Energy (PSE), the electrical services provider for the region, including removal of an idle three-
phase transformer bank, replacement of an existing pole, and relocation of primary spans to
ensure reliable electrical service for the pump station and compliance with current utility
standards; and
WHEREAS, PSE has provided the City with a Commercial Electric Facilities Contract that
includes approved design and updated construction costs for the required electrical
improvements in the amount of $43,897.76, with any additional costs to be identified by PSE as
necessary for final connection; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it is in the best interests of the City and its residents to
approve the contract with PSE; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: It is the intent of the Port Orchard City Council that the recitals set forth above
are hereby adopted and incorporated as findings in support of this Resolution.
THAT: The City Council approves the Mayor's execution of the Commercial Electric
Facilities Contract with Puget Sound Energy for the Melcher Pump Station Rehabilitation
Project in the amount of $43,897.76, with additional costs to be identified by PSE. The
Mayor is authorized to take all actions necessary to effectuate this approval.
THAT: The Resolution shall take full force and effect upon passage and signatures
hereon.
