Festival of Chimes and Lights
Committee Minutes
Monday, April 16, 2018; 3:30 p.m. at City Hall
Members present: Chair Lucarelli and City staff Jenine Floyd. Guests present: Bobbie Stewart, POBSA;
and Laura, a Port Orchard citizen.
2018 Theme
Chair Lucarelli said the theme this year is O ’Christmas Tree.
Tree Decorating Contest
The committee discussed the possibility of a tree decorating contest. The conversation included service
clubs, tree sizes, lights, how many planters and dimensions, purchase of the trees, how to anchor the
trees in the planters, sponsorships, media involvement, prizes, permits, and site distance.
Marketing and Advertising
Chair Lucarelli would like to send notices of the event earlier this year. She has been working with the
graphics department at Wet Apple to work on what goes into the ads. Staff has met with Sound
Publishing to go over deadlines and publishing.
Garland Update
Staff Floyd said the garland has been ordered and should arrive around July or August.
Budget Update
Staff Floyd noted we did budget for the garland and the additional funds will come from the Chimes &
Lights and administrative budgets.
Social Media
Staff Floyd noted that we can publish notices and information about the event through the City’s
Facebook page, website, and distribution lists.
Utility Billing Brochure Timelines
Staff Floyd said the information needs to be provided no later than September 1st in order to be included
in the October and November billing cycles.
Christmas Tree Sourcing
Chair Lucarelli said Staff Thiele had an idea about going out and getting a tree. We should find out how
much the tree is going to cost.

Miscellaneous Items
Chair Lucarelli said Santa Pat and his wife will be Santa and Mrs. Claus again this year.
The Committee discussed using a sleigh for Santa to sit on instead of a chair, pet parade and sponsors,
new ideas for the event as it is the 20th anniversary, lights and song choices, overview of the Festival,
purchase of a tent, receiving donations, finding out from Dragonfly Cinema what free movies are
available, and the sound system.
There being no further business, Chair Lucarelli adjourned the meeting at 4:25 p.m. Audio-only
recording was successful.
