Committee Minutes
Monday, June 18, 2018; 3:30 p.m. at City Hall
Members present: Chair Lucarelli and City staff Bill Theile, Mike DeLine, and Brandy Rinearson. Guest present:
Bobbie Stewart, POBSA.
Tree Decoration Contest
The committee discussed responsibility of anchoring and placing the trees in the planters; electricity options;
sponsorships; extra police patrols; when to put the trees up; tree donation criteria to be included in the
guidelines and application; disposal of trees; and a possible plaque for the winner of the contest. The judging
will be done by Santa. Committee will be doing some research of who owns the planters downtown, as some
believe the City owns and other believe POBSA owns them.
Garland
Chair Lucarelli updated the committee that the garland the City purchased may not be able to be hung across
Bay Street. However, Public Works will be looking in to other places to hang the old garland throughout the
downtown.
Tent for Choirs
Chair Lucarelli stated the budget for the tent is for the choirs and we would no longer need to share the expense
of the tent with Jingle Bell Run as in the previous year. Staff Rinearson was asked to find a cost comparison of
the most recent canopy at Costco.
Santa’s Sleigh
Staff Rinearson shared with the Committee that the sleigh has been reserved. Public Works will pick it up and
review to see if additional maintenance is needed, painting, decorations, etc.
Citizen Request for National Anthem
Staff Rinearson shared with the committee that an individual offered to sing the National Anthem at the event.
After discussion, the committee declined as they would like to stick to the traditional holiday songs being sung.
2018 Festival Update
The committee briefly mentioned The Woodside Animal Hospital is interested in sponsoring the Pooch N Purrs
Parade again.
There being no further business, Chair Lucarelli adjourned the meeting at 4:46 p.m. Audio-only recording was
successful.
Future Meeting:
