Festival of Chimes and Lights
Committee Minutes
Monday, December 17, 2018; 3:40 p.m. at City Hall
Members present: Chair Lucarelli and City staff Bill Thiele and Jenine Floyd. Guests present: Bobbie
Stewart, POBSA; and Sharron King, Fathoms O; Fun.
2018 Event Review
The committee discussed the event and noted it went very well except for the clock tower chimes not
working. They are hoping the chimes will be fixed in 2019. The event was well attended, the weather
turned out wonderful, and they discussed having music or activities down by the gazebo where
pictures were being taken with Santa as it was very quiet. Additionally, there was a lot of positive
feedback about the decorated trees along Bay Street.
Chair Lucarelli said the City received an anonymous letter about concerns with the process of judging
the trees. Santa and Mrs. Claus were the judges. She said we can think about switching out the judges
for next year. We will also be sending out a thank you to the participants and list the winners of the
contest.
The committee agreed to have the Bay Street tree decorating contest next year and discussed
timeframes to begin the application process and details of the contest.
Chair Lucarelli noted Councilmembers provided money for the prizes. There were no public funds used.
2018/2019 Tree Recycling
Staff Floyd will see if there is a price to recycle the trees.
Budget Review
Staff Floyd provided Chair Lucarelli with the detailed current budget.
Photo Presentation/Consideration
Chair Lucarelli said some photos were taken of the event and we are currently looking into the
legalities of purchasing the photos.
2019 Overview
Chair Lucarelli asked the committee to think about different things we could add to the event.
The committee discussed asking one of the marinas or yacht clubs if we could have lighted boats cruise
around in the water.
