January 3, 2006

The Mayor called the Study Session to order at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the Council Committee
Assignments for the next two years as directed by Ordinance No. 1934. Newly elected Council
Member Fred Chang asked for a one-minute description of each Council Committee assignment.
After this discussion each Council Member voiced their preference with a 1-7 choice, with # 1
their first choice. Attached is a draft Council Committee assignment.
The Council discussed the County/City Liaison Committee. Council Members Geiger, Powers,
Moore, Wyatt, and Clauson were interested in being a member of this Committee. Council
Member Clauson advised he would contact Commissioner Jan Angel with the names of the
interested Council Members and ask her to select three Council Members to sit on this
Committee.
Council Members Clauson, Wyatt, Moore, and Powers agreed to work on the Lights & Chimes
Committee, with Council Member Clauson acting as Chair for the Committee.
Council Members Chang and Wyatt have both agreed to work on the Hotel/Motel Tax
Committee. They will discuss and decide who will be the Council representative for this
Committee.
The Council concurred with keeping Council Members Geiger, Wyatt and Clauson on the Land
Use Appeal Board.
Council Member Powers will remain the alternate to Mayor Abel at the Kitsap Regional
Coordinating Council.
Council Member Powers agreed to represent the City on the Kitsap County LEOFF I Disability
Board.
The Council discussed the Bremerton -City-to-City Committee. Mayor Abel suggested she
finalize the committee structure to include one County Commissioner, three City of Bremerton
Council Members, and three City of Port Council Members. Council Members Clauson and
Diienno have agreed to work on this Committee. Council members Chang and Moore will
discuss and decide who would be the third member.

Mayor Abel asked the Council to set a tentative date for a Council Retreat. Mayor Abel
suggested either February 11th or 18th as the date and asked for Council's concurrence at the
next regular Council Meeting.
In conclusion, Mayor Abel advised the Council Committee Assignments will be presented for
final approval at the January 9, 2006 regular City Council meeting.
