ABEL, MAYOR COUNCILMEMBERS: John Clauson Fred Chang Robert Geiger Rita Dilenno, excused Carolyn Powers, Mayor Protem Rick Wyatt City of Port Orchard 2007 Budget Public Hearing December 4, 2006 ALSO PRESENT: Treasurer Kristine Tompkins, Public Works Director Abed, Planning Director Long-Woods, Police Chief Townsend/ and Interim City Clerk Merlino. 7:00 P.M. CALL TO ORDER Kathie Lipka led the audience and Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. PUBLIC HEARING: 2007 Budget Proposal At 7:00 p.m. Mayor Abel opened the Public Hearing to allow for Public Testimony regarding the 2007 proposed City Budget. With no one wishing to testify1 the public hearing was closed at 7:02 p.m. Council Member Chang thanked the Finance Committee for their many hours of committee meetings and final recommendations to the City Council. Council Member Chang presented his priorities for the proposed 2007 Budget: >-Economic Development; >-Annexation Study; >-Mayor's salary; >-Public Works Inspector position; >-Special Projects Fund Discussion was held on the priorities but no changes were made to the proposed budget. Minutes of December 4, 2006 Page 2 of 2 Council Member Geiger moved and Council Member Clauson seconded a motion to direct staff to prepare an ordinance for passage of the 2007 City Budget at the December 11, 2006 council meeting. Upon vote, motion passed unanimously. EXECUTIVE SESSION At 7:32 p.m. Council moved into executive session for 10 minutes for the purposes of discussing qualifications of potential council candidates and extended the Executive Session an additional 5 minutes. At 7:47 p.m. Council reconvened back into regular session. Council set the date and time for the next Downtown Overlay District meeting for Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Council Member Chang moved and Council Member Powers seconded the motion to excuse Council Member Dilenno from the meeting.
