City Council Special Meeting
Regarding the Downtown Overlay District
April 2, 2007
Council Members: Mayor Pro-tem Wyatt, Chang, Diienno, Geiger, Powers
and Putaansuu
ABSENT: Council Member Clauson
ALSO PRESENT: Public Works Director Abed, Planning Director Long-Woods, City
Clerk Merlino, and Assistant City Attorney Greg Jacoby.
Mayor Abel opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Abel delayed the start of this meeting to recognize and congratulate Council
Member Geiger on his 45th year as a City Council Member for the City of Port Orchard.
Council Member Geiger was sworn into office on April 2, 1962.
At this time, Mayor Abel, turned the meeting over to Assistant City Attorney Jacoby who
spoke to the Council regarding the administrative record for the Downtown Overlay
District. Mr. Jacoby advised the Public Hearing for the DOD was closed at their last
meeting, however since then additional information relating to the structure heights
have developed. Mr. Jacoby recommended the Council open the Administrative Record
allowing written comments only and then close the record at a date certain.
Council Member Diienno moved and Council Member Powers seconded the
motion to take no testimony this evening and schedule a Public Hearing to
allow for public testimony. The Council will accept written documentation
until the close of the scheduled Public Hearing. Upon vote, motion passed
unanimously.
The Council set the date and time of the scheduled Public Hearing for the Downtown
Overlay District as April 17, 2007 at 7:00 pm.
