RESOLUTION NO. 056-26
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, EXPRESSING
SUPPORT FOR FUNDING PLAN FOR THE PORT ORCHARD COMMUNITY EVENTS
CENTER PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard continues efforts on the Port Orchard Community
Events Center, in partnership with the Kitsap Public Facilities District, to advance economic
development, expand opportunities for community gatherings and civic events, strengthen the
downtown waterfront, and serve residents, visitors, and the broader South Kitsap region; and
WHEREAS, in 2019, the City and Kitsap Public Facilities District executed an agreement
for financing the project based on then -current project cost and funding assumptions; and
WHEREAS, since execution of that agreement, project cost estimates, funding
assumptions, and related financial projections have evolved as the project has advanced
through design and permitting; and
WHEREAS, the City Council received a briefing on updated financial projections and
funding at its regular meeting of September 8, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Kitsap Public Facilities District requests a statement of support from the
City Council reflecting these updates and the proposed increase in contribution by the District;
now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: The City Council fully supports the Community Events Center Project and the
financial plan, presented on September 8, 2026.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, SIGNED by the Mayor and attested
by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 8th day of September 2026.
