RESOLUTION NO. 058-26
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING
REVISED COSTS FOR THE SALE OF THE CITY'S COMMEMORATIVE BRICKS AND
TILES.
WHEREAS; in 1998, the City Hall Grand Opening Committee started the sale of
commemorative bricks and tiles to help offset the costs of the new City Hall Grand Opening
Ceremony scheduled for 1999. Since then, the funds left over after the engraving costs have been
used for Festival of Chimes and Lights (Holiday on the Bay) or placed into the General Fund; and
WHEREAS; currently, tiles, which are located at the main entrance to City Hall on
Prospect Street, are $100 to purchase, and bricks, which are located outside the police
department on Bay Street, are $75 to purchase; and
WHEREAS; throughout the years, the cost of engraving has increased. After contacting the
current vendor, they indicated pricing would be $86 per brick and tile. Right now, the pricing is
$80, but with our plan not to put in an order until the start of the new year, they will be
implementing price increases that we must account for. Additionally, there is an $825 order
minimum; and
WHEREAS, during the September 8, 2026, City Council meeting, it was discussed that due
to increased engraving costs and staff time to process and implement the program, it was
recommended to charge $125 for both tiles and bricks. Additionally, the additional pricing could
be saved for the years we do not meet the minimum order threshold; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: The cost of the City's commemorative bricks and tiles will be raised to $125 each.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, SIGNED by the Mayor and attested
by the City Clerk in authentication of such passage this 22nd day of September 2026.
