A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, CONFIRMING THE CITY'S DESIRE TO BE
INCLUDED IN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE KITSAP COUNTY
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION BENEFIT AREA.
WHEREAS, the Port Orchard City Council previously adopted Resolution
No. 042-06 by which it designated Carolyn Powers as the City's elected representative
to attend and represent the City of Port Orchard at a Public Transportation
Improvement Conference called by Kitsap County; and
WHEREAS, the Public Transportation Improvement Conference convened
on November 9, 2006, and considered the desirability of changing the boundaries of the
Kitsap County Public Transportation Benefit Area known as "Kitsap Transit"; and
WHEREAS, the Public Transportation Improvement Conference adopted a
Resolution, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A, by which the Conference
found it desirable to change Kitsap Transit's boundaries and scheduled a public hearing
to consider fixing and establishing such changed boundaries; and
WHEREAS, RCW 36.57A.030 requires each component City to advise the
Kitsap County Board of Commissioners of its desire to be included or excluded from the
Public Transportation Benefit Area; and
WHEREAS, the Port Orchard City Council hereby finds it is in the best
interests of the residents of Port Orchard to continue to be included within the
boundaries of Kitsap Transit; now therefore,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: The City of Port Orchard hereby confirms its desire to be included
within the boundaries of the Kitsap County Public Transportation Benefit Area known as
Kitsap Transit.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the
Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 13th day of
November 2006.
