A RESOLUTION OF THE em OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
REGARDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF Cm COUNCIL
COMMITTEES AND REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 006-06
WHEREAS, the Port Orchard City Council has established 9 select committees to
investigate and recommend policy to the full Council; and
WHEREAS, membership of the 9 select committees consists of 3 Council
Members whose appointment is made following a collaborative process of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to reduce the number of select Council
committees with the intent that the subject areas previously covered by the disbanded
committees will be discussed by the full Council in study session or, on a case by case basis, by
an ad hoc committee; and
WHEREAS, the Finance, Utilities, and Public Property committees shall continue to
investigate and recommend policy on the subjects and issues that have historically been assigned
to these committees; and
WHEREAS, the City Council supports the establishment of a tourism committee to
address issues relating to the Festival of Chimes and Lights and other public events, tourism
generally, and hotel/motel tax matters; now, therefore;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: Effective as set forth below, Resolution No. 006-06 is hereby repealed
and the following Council committees are hereby disbanded: County/City Liaison,
Growth Management, Festival of Chimes and Lights, Street/ Alley, Public Safety, and
Economic Development.
AND FURTHER THAT: The following Council committees are hereby continued
or established: Finance, Utilities, Public Property, and Tourism.
AND FURTHER THAT: Implementation of the new committee structure set
forth above shall not become effective until the first business day following the February
5, 2008 Council study session and the appointment of Council Members to the newly
created committees.
AND FURTHER THAT: Until such time as the new committees are
implemented, the current committees shall remain in effect and newly elected Council
Members shall serve on the committees to which their Council predecessors were
appointed.

AND FURTHER THAT: At a regular Council meeting in January of each even
numbered year, the City Council shall establish the responsibilities of each committee,
and the committee membership.
