AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
REGARDING COUNCIL MEETING DATES AND ORDER OF BUSINESS
AND AMENDING PORT ORCHARD MUNICIPAL CODE SECTIONS
2.04.010 AND 2.04.060
WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard is governed by an elected Mayor and seven City
Council members; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted rules of procedure to govern Council
meetings, and these rules are codified in Port Orchard Municipal Code Chapter 2.04; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend the rules governing the dates of
regular meetings of the City Council and the order of business; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Port Orchard Municipal Code Section 2.04.010 is hereby amended to read:
2.04.010 (Meeting time and place.
The regular meeting of the city council shall be held on the second and fourth
Tuesday of every month, in the council chambers of City Hall commencing at the
hour of 7:00 p.m. and continue to 10:00 p.m. To continue past the 10:00 p.m.
adjournment time, a majority of the city council must concur. In the event any
regular meeting falls on a holiday, the city council shall meet on the next business
day at the same hour.
SECTION 2. Port Orchard Municipal Code Section 2.04.060 is hereby amended to read:
2.04.060 Order of business.
The order of business shall be as follows:
(1)
Call to order and roll call;
(2)
Pledge of allegiance;
(3)
Citizen comment;
(4)
Approving the agenda;
(5)
Approving the consent agenda;
(6)
Presentations and proclamations;
(7)
Public hearings;
(8)
New business;
(9)
Reports of committees;
(10)
Report of Mayor;
(11)
Reports of Council Members;
Ordinance No.001-08

(12) Executive session;
(13) Motions as a result of executive session;
(14) Adjournment.
SECTION 3. After posting and publication as required by law, this ordinance shall be in full
force and effect on February 1, 2008, A summary of this Ordinance may be published in lieu of the
entire ordinance, as authorized by State Law.
