The following is a summary of an Ordinance approved by the Port Orchard City Council at their regular
Council meeting held June 26, 2006.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
CHAPTER B2, SECTIONS 14 AND 61 OF THE CITY'S ZONING ORDINANCE
REGARDING CHANGING TO 7 THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF ROOMS FOR A BED
AND BREAKFAST AND INCREASING THE NIMIMUM NUMBER OF ROOMS FOR
HOTLES AND MOTELS TO 7.

Orchard. Upon written request a statement of the full text of the Ordinance will be mailed to any
interested person without charge. Thirty days after publication, copies of Ordinance No. 015-06 will be
provided at a nominal charge.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD AMENDING
CHAPTER B2, SECTIONS 14 AND 61 OF THE CITY'S ZONING
ORDINANCE REGARDING CHANGING TO 7 THE MAXIMUM NUMBER
OF ROOMS FOR A BED AND BREAKFAST AND INCREASING THE
MINIMUM NUMBER OF ROOMS FOR HOTELS AND MOTELS TO 7
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Orchard desires to amend Chapter B2,
Section 14 of the City's Zoning Code regarding the number of bedrooms available for paying
guests; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Orchard desires to amend Chapter B2,
Section 61 of the City's Zoning Code regarding the number of bedrooms available for paying
guests; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Chapter B2, Section 14 of the City of Port Orchard's Zoning Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 14: Bed and breakfasts
An owner occupied dwelling unit or accessory building within which
no more than 7 bedrooms are available for paying guests on a daily
basis. When an existing owner occupied dwelling unit or accessory
building has 7 or less bedrooms and, as of the effective date of this
ordinance, has been approved pursuant to a conditional use permit,
then the owner may seek administrative approval to add additional
bedrooms equal to the incremental difference between 7 and the
number of existing bedrooms.
SECTION 2. Chapter B2, Section 61 of the City of Port Orchard's Zoning Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
Section 61: Hotels and motels
Commercial establishments with more than 7 guest rooms, known
to the public as hotels, motor hotels, motels, or tourists' courts,
primarily engaged in providing lodging, or lodging and meals, for the
general public. Includes hotels that are operated by membership
organizations and are open to the general public.
SECTION 3. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance is declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, such invalidity shall not affect the
validity or effectiveness of the remaining portions of this ordinance.

SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after posting and
publication as required by law. A summary of this Ordinance may be published in lieu of the entire
ordinance, as authorized by State Law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the Mayor and
attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 26t" day of June 2006.
