AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION 2.08.010 OF THE PORT
ORCHARD MUNICIPAL CODE ESTABLISHING THE CITY PLANNER
AS A NEW APPOINTIVE OFFICER
WHEREAS, planning for city growth and the administration of codes and
regulations relating to land use are of significant interest and importance to the citizens of Port
Orchard; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council favor the appointment of a City Planner
as an appointive officer of the city, to operate and supervise the planning staff; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 2.08.010 of the Port Orchard Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
2.08.010: Appointment and removal of the city clerk,
city treasurer, city engineer, city planner and police chief.
The mayor of the city may appoint or remove the city clerk, city
treasurer, city engineer, city planner, and the police chief subject
to a confirmation vote by a majority of not less than four
members of the city council. Such appointments and removals
must be in writing, signed by the mayor and filed with the city
clerk.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after
posting and publication as required by law. A summary of this Ordinance may be published in
lieu of the entire ordinance, as authorized by State Law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the Mayor
and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 28th day of June 2004
