AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT
ORCHARD, WASHINGTON AMENDING THE CITY
OF PORT ORCHARD ZONING ORDINANCE
REGARDING RETENTION OF SIGNIFICANT TREES
WHEREAS, on December 28, 1998, the city council in Ordinance No.
1748, adopted the City of Port Orchard Zoning Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, Part C4, Section 2 of the Zoning Ordinance provides that the
landscape standards and significant tree retention provisions of Part C4 do not apply to
short plat applications; and
WHEREAS, it is the City Council's intention that the landscaping
standards and significant tree retention provisions of Part C4 not apply to short plat
applications; now therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 1748, The City of Port Orchard Zoning
Ordinance, Part C4, Section 17 is amended to read as follows:
Section 17: Significant tree retention plan
The applicant shall submit a tree retention plan concurrent with a
grading permit, building permit or preliminary subdivision
application, whichever is reviewed and approved first. The tree
retention plan shall consist of:
a: A tree survey that identifies the location, size, and
species of individual significant trees or the perimeter
of stands of trees on a site. For forested sites, the
tree survey may use a standard timber cruising
method to reflect general locations, numbers, and
groupings of significant trees. For detailed site plans
and grading applications, the tree survey may be
conducted by a method that locates individual
significant trees near edges of tree protection areas.
b: The tree retention plan identifying the significant
trees that are proposed to be retained should show
the locations of tree protection fence that protects the
critical root zones of the trees.

SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days
after posting and publication as required by law. A summary of this Ordinance may be
published in lieu of the entire Ordinance, as authorized by State law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, signed by the
Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 13t' day of
October, 2003.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD ORDINANCE REGARDING
RETENTION OF SIGNIFICANT TREES.
Copies of Ordinance No. 1917 are available for review at the office of the City Clerk of the City of Port
Orchard. Upon written request a statement of the full text of the Ordinance will be mailed to any
interested person without charge. Thirty days after publication, copies of Ordinance No. 1917 will be
provided at a nominal charge.
