AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING CHAPTER 2.04 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE AND
REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 1974 REGARDING THE CITY
COUNCIL'S RULES FOR MAKING COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS
WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard is governed by an elected Mayor and seven City
Council members; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 1974, the Port Orchard City Council
established certain select committees to investigate and recommend policy to the full Council; and
WHEREAS, the committee assignments are currently made in accordance with
Resolution No. 1974 and Port Orchard Municipal Code 2.04.220(7); and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to amend the rules governing the assignment of
Council members to select committees; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, DOES
HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
its entirety.
SECTION 1. Port Orchard Municipal Code section 2.04.220(7) is hereby deleted in
SECTION 2. City Resolution No. 1974 is repealed in its entirety.
SECTION 3. The following Council committees are established and shall continue to
operate except as may be determined in Section 4, below:
Water, Sewer, Solid Waste, and Health
Finance, Insurance, and Negotiations
Public Property, Buildings, and Parks
Street, Alley, and Storm Water
Growth Management and the Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council
Economic Development and Telecommunications
Public Safety and Justice
SECTION 4. In the January following each election involving the Councilor Mayor,
or as needed, the three (3) Council members with the greatest number ofyears of service on the
Council shall be responsible for determining the number of committees, the assignments of each
committee, and the committee membership, with input from the Mayor and the other Council
members.

SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after
posting and publication as required by law. A summary of this Ordinance may be published in lieu
of the entire ordinance, as authorized by State Law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the Mayor and
attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 8' day f December 2003.
