In the past Committee members have discussed the cost of funding full health & welfare
benefits for part time employees.
Currently, part time employees receive the same level of benefits as full time employees.
Average monthly wages for City part time positions can range from approximately
$612.80 to $969.78.
The monthly premiums for health & welfare benefits for an employee who is married with
two dependents is $583.50. Health & welfare benefit premiums for employee only would
be $206.45.
If the Committee wants to recommend a change in policy on health & welfare benefits for
part time employees, the following motion is suggest:
MOTION: Move to establish a policy for employees hired after June 10, 1996 the City will
provide health and welfare benefits:
full time employees (40 hrs per week) full family coverage
part time employees (20+ hrs per week) employee coverage only
part time employees (19 or less hrs per week) no health and welfare benefits
Effective October 1, 1996 all full time employees receiving health & welfare benefits shall
pay each month a portion of the Health & welfare benefits as follows:
Employee only ...................$ .00
One dependent ................... $ 7.00
Two dependents ..................$14.00
Three or more dependents ........ $21.00 (maximum monthly co -pay per family)
