11/19/1997 - Special - MinutesPort Orchard, Washington November 19, 1997 Mayor Pro -tern Carolyn Powers called the Council of the City of Port Orchard, Washington, to order in special session at 7:30 P.M. at City Hall, 216 Prospect Street Council members present: Clauson, Wyatt, Geiger, Powers, Van Zee and Grable. Staff present: City Planner Gross, City Engineer Curles and Deputy Clerk Merlino. Mayor Pro -tern Powers reopened the Draft Zoning Ordinance Public Hearing which was continued from November 12, 1997. The purpose of holding a series of continued meetings that constitute one public hearing is to allow a detailed and thorough review and discussion on the Draft Zoning Ordinance. Public input is invited and encouraged during discussions on the Draft Zoning Ordinance. Councilmembers confirmed the following dates for continuation of the Draft Zoning Ordinance Public Hearing: Wednesday, December 3, 1997 at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 10, 1997 at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 17, 1997 at 7:30 P.M. City Planner Gross facilitated continued review and discussions of Chapter D1: Density, dimensions, and design requirements. Section 4 Measurement methods: As requested at the November 12 session City Planner opened discussion regarding the review of Gig Harbor Ordinance 1 b(i-iv) and Steilacoom Ordinance 18.20.040 (E). City Engineer suggested the following wording for Section 4c: Building heights must be no greater than 15' above uphill property line to the ridgeline of the roof and the building cannot exceed a maximum height of 33' to the dripline, without approval of the Fire Department. After careful consideration by the Council, the Council directed the City Planner to further review this section and present graphics which would illustrate and focus on building heights for the entire city.
