12/01/1997 - Special - MinutesPort Orchard, Washington December 1, 1997 Council of the City of Port Orchard, Washington, called to Special Session by Mayor Leslie J. Weatherill at 7:30 P.M. Councilmembers present: Clauson, Wyatt, Morrison, Geiger, Powers, Van Zee and Grable. Staff Present: City Treasurer Tompkins, City Engineer Curles, Police Chief Mathews, Fire Chief Snow and Deputy Clerk Merlino. Mayor Weatherill informed those present the purpose of this Special Session is to hold a Public Hearing to discuss the City of Port Orchard's proposed 1998 Budget. Mayor Weatherill opened Public Hearing and requested Councilman Geiger, Chair of Finance Committee, review proposed 1998 budget allocations. Councilman Geiger outlined budget planning process and reviewed 1998 budget allocations. Councilman Geiger asked if anyone had any questions concerning the proposed 1998 budget. Mayor Weatherill called for public input and as there was no response from the audience, he closed public input portion of the Public Hearing and referred proposed budget to the City Council for consideration. On motion by Councilman Geiger, seconded by Councilman Clauson, Council authorized preparation of an ordinance to adopt the 1998 City of Port Orchard Budget in the amount of $17,942,100. This ordinance will be presented for consideration at the December 8, 1997 regular City Council meeting. Special Budget Public Hearing meeting adjourned at 7:35 PM.
