The following is a summary of an Ordinance approved by the Port Orchard City Council at their regular
Council meeting held November 13,2000.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
SETTING THE AMOUNT OF PROPERTY TAXES TO BE RAISED FOR
THEYEAR2001.
Copies of Ordinance No. 1801 are available for review at the office of the City Clerk of the City of Port
Orchard. Upon written request a statement of the full text of the Ordinance will be mailed to any
interested person without charge. Thirty days afler publication, copies of Ordinance No. 1801 will be
provided at a nominal charge.

ORDINANCE NO. 1801
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
SETTING THE AMOUNT OF PROPERTY TAXES TO BE RAISED FOR
THE YEAR 2001
WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard, with a population under ten thousand (lO,OOO),
retains the ability to raise property taxes up to six percent per year; and
WHEREAS, notice was given for the annual public hearing on revenue sources held on
October 23, 2000 to consider the City of Port Orchard's current expense and street budget for the 2001
calendar year pursuant to RCW 84.55.120, and
WHEREAS, it is the City of Port Orchard's desire that the maximum amount of property tax
allowed be collected for the year 2001, now, therefore,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There is hereby authorized a discretionaty increase in the 2001 regular property
tax levy, plus an additional dollar amount equal to the amount allowed under the new construction.
improvements to property and any increase in the value of stateassessed property, by provisions of RCW
84.55.010, in the amount of seventy-four thousand, and sixty dollars ($74,060), which is a percentage
increase of six percent from the one million, two hundred thirty-four thousand, three hundred and thirty eight
dollars ($1,234,338) levied for collection in 2000. The total of the regular levy plus additional amounts is at
least one million, three hundred eleven thousand, one hundred ninety dollars ($1,311,190).
Section 2. There is hereby authorized an increase in the 2001 Emergency Medical
Services property tax levy from the one hundred eighty-six thousand, eight hundred forty-three dollars
($186,843) levied for collection in 2000. The maximum computed is fifty cents ($50) of the assessed value
with the total being at least one hundred ninety-four thousand, two hundred fifty dollars ($194,250).
