Council called to order by Mayor Lee F :`Caldwell at'`7:30 P.M. for
hearing on 1984 Proposed City Budget.
Councilmenpresent: Childress, Wilson, Geiger, Grosso, Miller:and
Clark.
Mayor Caldwell at this time turned meeting over to Finance Committee
member Robert Geiger, to present recommendation of Finance Committee
on the 1984 Proposed City Budget.
Councilman Geiger spoke to the recommendation of the Finance
Committee and also informed Council that an offer was made to the
City to purchase the old post office building at a price of
appraisal $215,000 with terms and interest negotiable. Geiger
moved that $100,000. be designated for library and $15,000 for fire
bay in the Cummulative Reserve for. Municipal,Fac.iltie.s.
Councilman Wilson wanted to see definite figure on the proposed
Purchase of the post office for library. ."Matter referred.to
Building Committee.
Councilman Geiger also informed Council that $5,000 was allocated
for Lundberg Park, $30,000 for DeKalb Waterway and $75,000 into
Fire Truck Account Also funds allocated for 'a new police car,
public works pickup and 1,000' of`5" fire hose... Other allocations
were made for Awareness Express ($5,0.0.0)and Street`°.resurfacing.
Ordinance No. 1254 created a fund to be known as "Community Events'
Fund" for monies received from Hotel./Motel°Transient (Stadium).Tax
Passed on motion.by Clark, seconded`by'Geiger'and'carried.
Ordinance No. 1225 abolishing Special'Fund, "Police Reserve Fund
and authorizing transfer of balance of fund to Current Expense Fund
on motion by Geiger,seconded.'and�.carried.
Resolution No. 1330, authorizing a budgetary transfer within Federal
Shared Revenue to Federal Shardd Revenue -Police Department Capital
Outlay -Equipment from the following"accounts: Federal Shared Revenue
Engineering -Capital Outlay -Equipment the amount of $1,736; Federal
Shared Revenue --Fire Department Repairs and Maintenance the amount of
$1,000; Federal Shared Revenue -Law Enforcement -Equipment the amount
of $1,337. for the purpose of.purc.hasing a computer.`";system for the
Police Department.
On motion by Councilman Geiger, seconded and carried ,;,Council` passed
the proposed 1984 Budget,as presented.
Mayor called the Council into executive session on .a personnal
matter.
Clerk administered Oath of Office to L:.' Jay Weatherill for the position
of Mayor and Jack Grable for position of Councilman Mr. Weatherill
and Mr. Grable were elected to fill_ unexpired terms and take office
upon certification of election,
