Special Meeting of the City Council called to order by Mayor
Lee Caldwell. Councilmen present: Clauson, Childress,
Wilson, Geiger, Grosso, Diller and Clark.
Mayor informed the Council and audience that this Special
Meeting was called to determine the direction which the
Council will follow relative to the proposed Public Safety
Building.
Councilman Clark moved the City proceed with the obtaining
of Grant for the Public Safety Building and site preparation
and that the location of the new facility (Public Safety
Building) shall be on existing City property now being used
by the Public Works Department and that the Public Works
Department will be moved to the Kendall Street property.
Seconded and carried.
Chief Snow informed Council that the City has two (2) years
to complete the project upon receipt of the Grant (one
million dollars plus) and that they will attempt to increase
that amount with additional grant funds for site preparation.
Engineer Curles stated he is satisfied with the Council decision
as the existing location is extremely dangerous due to heavy
traffic.
