RE: Committee Minutes
The Public Property Committee met at the Family Pancake House for
a breakfast meeting, 7 May 1993. Members present were Carolyn
Powers and Jack Grable. John Clauson substituted for Jesse Smith.
Also present was Larry Curles. Jack Perilli and Rex represented
Perdemco.
The Committee met with representatives of qto continue
the discussions about the ;AW . The discussions dealt
with the City contracting for the construction of a new building
on the former Chevron property. After a review of information
from the Municipal Research, the Committee felt that the City was
not ready to proceed with this type of transaction.
Perdemco then offered to sell the property to the City for about
$225,000. If the City was interested, it could purchase the land
and use it for construction at a later date. The Committee
discussed this idea and stated that it would advise the Council
of the offer.
An offer was made to rent the house at the corner of Tremont and
Sidney in order to use the house for storage of material. The
Committee would decline the offer since this would be considered
"warehousing". Warehouses are not a permitted use in residential
zoning.
