RE: Committee Minutes
The Public Property Committee met at the Council chambers for a
lunch meeting, 30 July 1993. Members present were Carolyn Powers
and Jack Grable. John Clauson substituted for Jesse Smith. Also
present was Larry Curles.
The Committee considered the best use of the property at 009hyx1
rIFIlThe original tenant did not have insurance and has
ated the building. The Committee's preference for the
property's utilization is (1) lease it to a business to obtain a
rental fee and to help generate sales tax; (2) lease it to a
business to obtain a monthly rental; or (3) have a city
department, such as the police, use it until the structure has to
be demolished. One unsolicited offer to use the building was
received. The Committee recommends that the City advertise in the
classifieds of the Bremerton Sun for any other proposals. Then
the best proposal should be accepted.
The City reviewed the topographic maps and survey of the former
landfill. There was a discussion about the pros and cons of a
master lease versus having the City assume landlord
responsibilities. The Committee discussions about the site are
continuing.
