RE: Committee Minutes
The Street Committee had a breakfast meeting at Myhre's Restaurant
at 7:30 AM, 6 May 1993. Members present were Don Morrison, Bob
Geiger and Chuck Childress. Also present was Larry Curles.
The Committee reviewed the application of Mr Steve Tibbitt, 109
Seattle Avenue, to construct a deck in the right of way. The
Committee appreciates the effort to improve existing housing.
However, it is concerned about establishing precedence in this
matter. After considerable discussion, it was decided to have the
City Engineer draft a policy for further consideration. No
recommendations are made at this time.
The Committee was briefed on the progress of the Port Orchard
Bypass project. It was agreed to have the consultant, David Evans
and Associates, come to the 24 May Council meeting to present the
project to the entire Council. At that time, the Council will be
asked to discuss the project's schedule. the City Engineer has
recommended that the remainder of 1993 be allocated for utility
relocation by Puget Power and US West. The proposed construction
date would be the Spring of 1994.
The Committee discussed the need for road repairs. Temporary
repairs are being hampered by the rains.
The Committee discussed the idea of naming a street after the Howe
family, to recognize their community leadership since the early
pioneer days. The two streets that were discussed were Prospect
Street and the Port Orchard Boulevard. The Committee thought that
remaining the Boulevard to Howe Parkway would be appropriate.
