Council of the City of Port Orchard, Washington called to order on
adjourned meeting of December 10, 1979 by Mayor Paul D. Powers, Jr.
Council members present: James Wilson, nary Wilson, Caldwell, Miller,
Grosso and Clark. Councilman Geiger excused. Also present: Chief of
Fire Department, Weatherill and Engineer Kane. Police Chief Mares
and Attorney excused,
Mayor Powers led the Council and Audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
On motion by Councilman Caldwell, seconded and carried, Council
approved the minutes of adjourned meeting.of December 10, 1979 as
circulated.
City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Paul D. Powers, Jr.
Mayor Powers administered the Oath of Office to the following elected
Councilmen: James Wilson, Mary Roy Wilson, Lee Caldwell and Gerald
Grosso. Councilman elect Robert Geiger absent.
On motion by Councilman Caldwell, seconded and carried, Council approved
Resolution No. 1221creating the new position of Cashier/Bookkeeper.
On motion by Councilman Clark, seconded and carried, Council approved
Ordinance No. 1123 amending the 1979 budget ordering appropriation of
funds received in excess of estimated revenue.
On motion by Councilman Caldwell, seconded and carried, Council
approved Ordinance No. 1124 establishing salary schedules for City
employees for the year 1980.
On motion by Councilman Caldwell, seconded and carried, Council
approved Ordinance No 1125 amending Chapter 10.64 of the Municipal Code
(Parking limit time on Kitsap Street).
On motion by Councilman Grosso, seconded and carried, Council approved
Gary Wernet to attend a fire seminar at Tumwater and the City to pay
registration and other related expenses.
On motion by Councilman Miller, seconded and carried, Council approved
the purchase of one (1) copy machine through the State Contract for
the Police Department and also the purchase of radio equipment as
approved by the Federal Shared Revenue budget through the State contract.
