Council of the City of Port Orchard, Washington called to ,regular
session by Mayor Paul D. Powers, .Jr. Council members present: Wilson,
Lee Caldwell, Geiger, Roos, Miller and Clark. Also present: Attorney
Riehl, Engineer Knobbs and Fire Chief Weatherill. Councilman Eugene
Caldwell and Police.Chief Mares excused.
Mayor Powers led the Council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
On motion by Lee Caldwell, seconded and carried, Council approved the
minutes of the November 27, 1978 meeting as circulated.
on motion by Councilman Lee Caldwell, seconded and carried, Council
approved revising the extension of Port Orchard Blvd. portion of the
six -year plan from $1,500,000.00 to $1,725,000.00 as shown on the road
inventory report.
Fire Chief Weatherill reported for the month of November the Fire
Department received 29 calls (14 fire, 2 mutual aid, 9 aid, 3 injury
accidents and 1 service call).
On motion by Councilman Lee Caldwell, seconded and'carried, Council
authorized the Fire Department to subinit a purchase order under the
State contract, to purchase the new vehicle as provided in the 1979
budget.
Councilman Geiger moved to transfer the present Fire Chief's car to the
City Clerk's office when the new vehicle is received. Seconded
Councilman Wilson moved to table motion for further consideration.
Seconded and carried.
Clerk read letter from Georgia R. Chesser, 1405 Pottery Avenue, voicing
a complaint against Mr. Heitman, 1429 Tremont Place, stating he is in
violation of Building, Health and Animal Codes. Copies of Ms Chesser's
letter have been forwarded to the Kitsap County Humane Society, Kitsap
County Health Department, Building Department and the Water/Sewer/Animal
Committee.
On motion by Councilman Lee Caldwell, seconded and carried, Council
approved ordinance No. 1079, an Ordinance adopting the budget for the
year 1979 in the amount of $1, 963, 393. 00 and levying a tax of $2.663 for the
Current Expense purposes.
Mayor Powers set date of December 28, 1978 for second Council meeting
for the month of December, 1978.
Mayor Powers announced appointment of Darlene Thompson to the Planning
Commission to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Russell.
Childers.
On motion by Councilman Roos, seconded and carried, Council confirmed
appointment of Darlene Thompson to the Planning Commission.
On motion by Councilman Geiger, seconded and carried, Council moved to
activate critical lights on Port Orchard Blvd.
On motion by Councilman Geiger, seconded and carried, Council approved
payment of the bills (with the exception of Voucher to the Department
of Internal Management, Kitsap County, in the amount of $1,789,00) in
the amount of $44,145.53 (Vouchers #5243 - #5249) and the November pay-
roll in the amount of $49,453.91, (Vouchers #8267 - #8372).
