12/28/2000 - Special - MinutesPort Orchard, Washington December 28, 2000 Council of the City of Port Orchard, Washington, called to order for a Special Session by Mayor Pro-tem Clauson at 6:30PM at City Hall, 216 Prospect Street. Council members present: Clauson, Geiger, Powers, VanZee, Wyatt, Stansbery, and Morrison Staff present: City Planner Wen man. Those present boarded the Kitsap Transit van and the tour began at approximately 6:35 p.m. Mayor Pro-tem Clauson welcomed those present and confirmed that this special session was convened at the request of the Public Property Committee. The Council periodically awards the Good Neighbor Award. The next award that is due for presentation is for the best holiday light display. The Public Property Committee had invited all elected officials. staff, and the public to accompany the Committee on a tour of the city to choose the recipients of this season's awards. Kitsap Transit provided transportation. Those present were impressed by the number and quality of lighted displays throughout the city and found that choosing the "best display" for residential lighting and commercial lighting proved to be extremely difficult. A vote was given for each display toured. Those present agreed that a special award in the Residential Category, should be given to Mr. & Mrs. McCollum for their spectacular display shown each holiday season.
