RESOLUTION NO. 2047
A RESOLUTION OF THE CTIY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
ESTABLISHING BUILDING VALUATION FOR THE CTIY BUILDING
CODES.
WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard has adopted and is enforcing building
WHEREAS, the building codes require permits based on total value of all
construction work for which the permit is issued, as well as all finish work, painting, roofing,
electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, elevators, fire extinguishing systems, and any
other permanent equipment; and
WHEREAS, the valuation of the provisions of the building codes shall be made
by the building official; now therefore,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE THAT:
c::F=mnN 1 The valuations shall be in accordance with the April 2002 edition
of "Building Valuation Data", which includes, but is not limited to the following minimum
valuations:
New residential space
New unfinished or semi-finished basement
of a dwelling
New garage, barn, shed, pole building
New deck (greater than 30" to grade)
New free standing roof structure, carports,
covered deck
New foundation under existing structure
New second floor of a garage used as
storage space
New second floor of a garage used as
dwelling space
New modular home installed on a land
parcel
Interior residential remodel
Conversion of an existing basement or
garage to residential space
Fences greater than 6 feet
Retaining walls (upland, greater than 4'
high)
Bulkhead (shoreline)

SECTION 2 When the valuation is not listed in the April 2002 edition of
"Building Valuation Data", the Building Official shall use comparisons with other local jurisdictions
and other relevant sources for cost comparisons.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the Mayor
and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 1" day of December 2003.
