1854 - Resolution - Policy for Use of Speed HumpsRESOLUTION NO. 1854 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING A POLICY FOR THE USE OF SPEED HUMPS. WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard maintains and regulates the public streets within its corporate limits; and WHEREAS, there are special circumstances when traffic enforcement is not readily available to address speeding problems on residential streets; and WHEREAS, the placement of a speed hump in the street has demonstrated to be effective in causing the traffic to slow; now therefore, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: - THAT: The Public Works Department may install speed humps in the right of way,- if the installation complies with the following policy: (1) The average daily traffic on the road would be less than 500 vehicles. (2) The road would be paved and the humps could be positioned so those motorists cannot drive around it. (3) The majority of the neighbors near the speed hump agree to it. (4) The Police concur with the use of it and are not able to effectively enforce speeding on this particular street. (5) The Fire Department concurs with the use of if.
