A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING INSTALLATION OF FOUR SIGNS
FOR THE KITSAP COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
FACILITY AT 393 SOUTH KITSAP BOULEVARD WITHIN THE
SOUTH KITSAP HEALTH CARE CAMPUS
WHEREAS, the Port Orchard City Council did on March 8, 1993 approve
Ordinance No. 1572 to reclassify property located in the 400 block of Tremont Street West; East
of SR16, between Tremont Street and Pottery Avenue from Residential High to Commercial
General and Multi -family 20 to allow site development of mixed land uses with twenty-four (24)
conditions; and
WHEREAS, Condition No. 2 specified all signs shall be consistent with the
requirements of the Tremont Corridor Specific Plan. No pole signs shall be allowed; and
WHEREAS, the Kitsap Community Federal Credit Union, subsequently has
submitted an application to install signage for their facility within the South Kitsap Health Care
Campus, requesting approval for installation of four signs (3 internally illuminated), and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Port Orchard did at a public meeting held
on April 13, 1998 hear testimony of fact and conclusion as follows:
FINDINGS OF FACT:
(1) The Tremont Corridor Specific Plan was adopted (Resolution No. 1615)
to be used in the guidance of future development along Tremont Street.
(2) The Tremont Corridor planning area encompasses approximately a one
and a half (1'/2) mile long corridor along Tremont Street. Specifically,
bordered by Highway 16 to the south and the west bank of Blackjack
Creek, or the city incorporated boundary. All property subdivided prior to
and after 1991 and located directly adjacent to Tremont Street.
Intersecting streets include Pottery Avenue, Roland, Howard, Flower,
Garrison, and West Streets.
(3) The purpose of the Tremont Corridor Specific Plan is to serve as a
guideline for planning and design with the goal of preserving the visual
integrity as the gateway entrance to the City.
(4) Kitsap Community Federal Credit Union is located on South Kitsap
Boulevard and is not directly adjacent to Tremont Street.
CONCLUSION: Based on testimony, materials presented and findings of fact,
the Port Orchard City Council does hereby conclude that (1) allowing installation of the signage
requested would not be detrimental to the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the
community; and (2) the location of the signage is not adjacent to Tremont Street, now, therefore,

HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
THAT the Kitsap Community Federal Credit Union Signage Plan, as submitted by Kitsap Community
Federal Credit Union, is hereby approved with the following condition: (1) The signage will be plan
specific as depicted in Attachment "A"

PASSED by the City council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the
Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such ssage this 11#h day of May, 1998.
