A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING PARTICIATION IN THE
SALMON HABITAT RESTORATION EFFORT.
WHEREAS, the salmon population is seriously declining and will soon be provided
increased governmental protection; and
WHEREAS, proactive efforts are needed to both protect the salmon population
and our regional quality of life; and
WHEREAS, Kitsap County is applying for ESHB 2496 grant funds to address
salmon habitat restoration; now therefore,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
1. The City recognizes Kitsap County as the lead agency in this endeavor.
2. The City will commit staff to the Salmon Habitat Restoration Committee for
the Water Resources Inventory Area.
3. The City will seek a regional solution to meet the requirements associated
with the listing of salmon as an endangered or threaten species.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the
Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 24th day of August, 1998.
