A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
REQUESTING THAT THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION, MARINE DIVISION, CONDUCT A
DEMONSTRATION OF PASSENGER ONLY FERRY SERVICE
BETWEEN SOUTHWORTH AND PIER 52, COLMAN DOCK, SEATTLE
WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of Transportation, Marine Division, a.k.a.;
Washington State Ferries, has initiated a request for permit approval for a passenger only ferry terminal at
Southworth; and
WHEREAS, the residents of the South Kitsap community have shown a great interest in
having this service available to the citizens of Kitsap County; and
WHEREAS, this service will constitute a new run with respect to departure and
destinations; and
WHEREAS, a demonstration of this service will provide an opportunity for the community
to obtain a clear understanding of the proposal being brought before Kitsap County for consideration, now
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE:
A request that the Washington State Ferries conduct a demonstration of the proposed
passenger only ferry service prior to final Kitsap County action on the proposed plan.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the Mayor and
attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 28th day of December, 1998.
