A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING THE LODGING TAX
ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, The City of Port Orchard has implemented the Hotel/Motel tax to fund
tourism activities; and
WHEREAS, the RCW 67.28 requires the City to utilize the Lodging Tax Advisory
Committee to advise in allocating the Hotel/Motel tax revenue;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
1. The City of Port Orchard does create the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee
and requires it to comply with the provisions of RCW 67.28
2. Prior to the last day of August of each calendar year, the Mayor of the City
of Port Orchard shall recommend to the City Council the names of the
eligible people to be assigned to this Committee. The City Council is the
appointing authority for the members of the Committee.
3. Prior to the last day of September of each calendar year, the Committee
shall meet to review the revenue projections which would be provided by
the City Treasurer and develop a Preferred Allocation List for this tax
revenue for the next budget year. The Preferred Allocation List shall
comply with RCW 67.28 and will be submitted by the Committee to the
City Council no later than 1 October of each year.
4. The City Clerk shall provide staff support for this committee, which would
include taking minutes, forwarding private requests for funding to the
Committee, and preparing the Committee report. The City Finance
Department shall prepare the required reports to the State of Washington
Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development.
5. The City Council shall take the Preferred Allocation List under advisement
when preparing the budget for the next calendar year, but is not obligated
to adopt the recommendations.

6. If the Committee does not submit the Preferred Allocation List on or before
to 1 October 1997, it shall be considered that the Committee has no
comments on the matter and the City Council shall act accordingly.
