A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
APPROVING TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT OF THE "BACKDOOR MALL"
SIGNS WITH "SIDNEY VILLAGE" SIGNS ON THE PUBLIC RIGHT OF
WAY - LOCATED ON TREMONT STREET AT THE PORT ORCHARD
BOULEVARD INTERSECTION AND ON PORT ORCHARD BOULEVARD AS
IT ENDS AT BAY STREET.
WHEREAS, Sidney Village, applicant, has submitted an application to
replace the "Backdoor Mall" signs with "Sidney Village" signs on the Public Right
of Way, located on Tremont Street at the Port Orchard Boulevard intersection and
on Port Orchard Boulevard as it ends at Bay Street; and
WHEREAS, Sidney Village conveyed that their objective of seeking
authorization to place this sign at the requested location is to alleviate
traffic congestion and safety concerns; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did approve the temporary application to
replace the "Backdoor Mall" signs with the "Sidney Village" signs on March 25,
1996.
WHEREAS, based on the testimony and materials presented the City
Council does hereby conclude that approving a temporary replacement of the
"Backdoor Mall" signs with "Sidney Village" signs would not be detrimental to the
health, safety, morals and general welfare of the community; and it is in the
best interest of the community to allow installation of the signs as requested
by Sidney Village, applicant.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Council of the City of Port
Orchard, Washington does hereby authorize a temporary replacement of the
"Backdoor Mall" signs with the "Sidney Village" signs, located at Tremont Street
at the Port Orchard Boulevard intersection and on Port Orchard Boulevard as it
ends at Bay Street as requested by Sidney Village, applicant, with the following
conditions:
1. The signs shall not adversely affect motorists' sight distance.
2. The signs must be the same size and dimensions of the "Backdoor
Mall" signs.
3. The signs shall be removed at the owner's expense when future road
improvements or other City improvements require it.
4. The signs are approved on a temporary basis until such time as the
City constructs a composite sign.
5. The applicant must participate in the cost of the composite signage.

6. The owner shall list the City as an additional insured for any
accidents or claims involving the signs. The insurance coverage
shall be at least $500,000 Bodily Injury and $500,000 Property
Damage or $1,000,000 Combined Bodily Injury and Property Damage.
Proof of this coverage shall be submitted to the City Clerk prior to
installation of the signs.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, SIGNED by the
Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of ch passage this 8th day
of April, 1996.
