A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
AUTHORIZING A POSITION RECLASSIFICATION AND GRADE INCREASE
FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS SECRETARY
WHEREAS, the position of Public Works Secretary was established by the
City Council to provide clerical support to the City Engineer, and
WHEREAS, over the course of years this position has been expanded to
provide clerical support to the Planning, Code Enforcement, Building Inspection,
Public Works functions of the City in addition to the City Engineer, and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Secretary position was established with an
entry level classification with limited responsibility; and
WHEREAS, the duties and responsibilities of the Public Works Secretary
have expanded beyond entry level clerical functions, and
WHEREAS, The City of Port Orchard has a Clerical/Secretarial - Senior
Level job position which reflects an increased level of duties and responsibilities,
and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Engineer and the
Personnel Department that the Public Works Secretary position be reclassified to the
Clerical/Secretarial- Senior Level.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY RESOLVE THAT:
1. Effective October 1, 1995, the Public Works Secretary position shall be
classified as a "Clerical/Secretarial - Senior Level" position.
2. The following payroll actions are authorized:
a. On the effective date, the current Public Works Secretary's pay rate
shall be adjusted from the 3rd step (1 yr) General Clerical -Secretarial
classification to the 3rd step (1 yr) Clerical/ Secretarial -Senior
Level classification (with all applicable COLA adjustments); and
b. The current employee's anniversary payroll date shall remain March 14.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, signed by the
Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 11th day of
September, 1995.
