RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT nP? HARD,
WASHINGTON ESTABLISHING A MORATORIUM
ON NEW CONSTRUCTION AND SUBSTANTIAL
IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS WITHIN FLOOD
HAZARD AREAS.
WHEREAS, residents of the City of Port Orchard are
unable to obtain flood insurance for their
property; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Port Orchard City
Council to petition the Federal Emergency
Management Federal Insurance Administration
to establish eligibility in the National
Flood Insurance Program as defined in
Federal Emergency Management Section 60.3(d)
44 CFR60 governing the National Flood
Insurance Program; and
WHEREAS, until such time as the City of Port Orchard
adopts Federal Emergency Management Section
60.3(d) 44CRF60 it is in the best interest
of the citizens of the City of Port Orchard
to not commence new construction or
substantial improvement projects within
flood hazard areas as defined by the Port
Orchard Flood Insurance Study of November 15,
1979.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Port
Orchard City Council does hereby declare a moratorium
on all new construction and substantial improvement
projects within flood hazard areas as defined in the
Port Orchard Flood Insurance Study of November 15, 1970.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port
Orchard, SIGNED by the Mayor and attested by the Clerk in
authentication of such passage this 22nd day of December,
