regular Council meeting held November 8, 1999.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, SETTING THE AMOUNT OF PROPERTY TAXES
TO BE RAISED FOR THE YEAR 2000.
Copies of Ordinance No. 1775-are available for review at the office of the City
Clerk of the City of Port Orchard. Upon written request a statement of the full text
of the Ordinance will be mailed to any interested person without charge. Thirty
days after publication, copies of Ordinance No. 1775 will be provided at a nominal
charge. `

ORDINANCE NO. 1775
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
SETTING THE AMOUNT OF PROPERTY TAXES TO BE RAISED FOR
THE YEAR 2000
WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard, with a population under ten thousand (10,000),
retains the ability to raise property taxes up to six percent per year; and
WHEREAS, notice was given for the annual public hearing on revenue sources held on
October 25, 1999 to consider the City of Port Orchard's current expense and street budget for the 2000
calendar year pursuant to RCW 84.55.120, and
WHEREAS, it is the City of Port Orchard's desire that the maximum amount of property tax
allowed be collected for the year 2000, now, therefore,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. There is hereby authorized a discretionary increase in the 2000 regular property
tax levy, plus an additional dollar amount equal to the amount allowed under the new construction,
improvements to property and any increase in the value of state -assessed property, by provisions of RCW
84,55.010, in the amount of sixty-six thousand, seven hundred ten dollars ($66,710), which is a percentage
increase of six percent from the one million, one hundred twenty-four thousand, sixty-eight dollars
($1,124,068) levied for collection in 1999. The total of the regular levy plus additional amounts is at least one
million, two hundred twenty-five thousand, eight hundred dollars ($1,225,800).
Section2. There is hereby authorized a decrease in the 2000 Emergency Medical Services
property tax levy from the one hundred eighty-three thousand, two hundred eighty-three dollars ($183,283)
levied for collection in 1999. This is due to a decrease in the City's assessed valuation. The maximum
computed is fifty cents ($.50) of the assessed value with the total being at least one hundred eighty-two
thousand, three hundred eighty-nine dollars ($182,389).
