AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
CREATING AN ANIMAL CONTROL APPEAL BOARD FOR THE CITY OF
PORT ORCHARD, DEFINING THEIR POWERS AND DUTIES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: CREATION OF ANIMAL CONTROL APPEAL BOARD AND ELIGIBILITY.
There is hereby created an Animal Control Appeal Board, consisting of three
members, who shall be appointed by the Mayor, confirmed by the City Council. Two
members shall be a resident of the city and one member shall be a veterinarian
who is licensed by the State of Washington.
SECTION 2: TERMS OF BOARD MEMBERS. The first board members
appointed shall determine by lot whose term shall expire in one, two or three
years respectively, and their term shall begin after their appointment has been
approved by the city council, and upon taking the usual oath of qualification.
The terms of office, except the first, shall be three years and begin on the
first day of January. Members of the Board may be removed at any time by the
Mayor, with confirmation of the council.
SECTION 3: POWERS AND DUTIES The animal control appeal board shall
serve as the Board of Appeals for matters relating to Declaration of Potentially
Dangerous Animals (Level 2 & 3) as established in City of Port Orchard Ordinance
No. 1607 and all subsequent amending ordinance and/or thereto.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by
the Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 14th
day of November, 1994.

of Port Orchard. Upon written request a statement of the full text of the Ordinance will be mailed
to any interested person without charge. Thirty days after publication, copies of Ordinance No.
1622 will be provided at a nominal charge.
