ORDINANCE NO. 1570 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING A CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION TO SERVE POLICE AND FIRE PERSONNEL AS PROVIDED BY ROW 41.08 AND ROW 41.12 AND ALSO REPEALING ORDINNACE NO. 1309 AND 736. Copies of Ordinance No. 1570 are available for review at the office of the City.Clerk of the City of Port Orchard. Upon written request a statement of the full text of the Ordinance will be mailed to any interested person without charge. Thirty days after publication, copies of Ordinance No. 1570 will be provided at a nominal charge. X IG�I SERVICE COMMISSION TO SERVE POLICE AND FIRE PERSONNEL AS PROVIDED BY RCW 41.08 AND RCW 41.12 AND ALSO REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1309 AND 736 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Orchard is required by RCW 41.08 and RCW 41.12 to establish a Civil Service Commission to serve personnel within the Police and Fire Departments, and WHEREAS, when the City of Port Orchard first established a Police Civil Service Commission (Ord. 736; 1965) and a Fire Civil Service Commission (Ord. 1309; 1985) they were organized as separate commissions with different commission members, and WHEREAS, the City Council does desire to re -organize the City Civil Service Commissions to utilize the same citizens to serve the police and fire personnel. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Orchard does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Pursuant to RCW Chapter 41.08 and RCW Chapter 41.12 there is hereby created a Civil Service Commission to exercise the powers and perform the duties established by such state law in connection with the selection, appointment and employment of Police and Fire personnel of the City of Port Orchard. SECTION 2. The City of Port Orchard Civil Service Commission shall be composed of three (3) members who shall serve without compensation and who shall have the qualifications, powers and duties prescribed and directed by Chapter 41.08 and Chapter 41.12 of R.C.W. The Commission members shall be appointed by the mayor for six -year terms to expire on the 31st day of December, except that the first commission members shall be appointed for different terms, one expiring December 31, 1994, one expiring December 31, 1996 and one expiring December 31, 1998. SECTION 3. THAT Ordinance No. 736 and Ordinance No. 1309 are hereby repealed.
